Sweet White Sticks

Sugar Cigs

Sugar Cigs

Do you remember when kids used to play around with those little white candy sticks and pretend they were cigarettes? and how shops would actually sell single cigs for people? White sticks still sell at ASDA today, but they as well as the Bazookaź Bubble Gum do not taste the same or is it just me?

I Remember Them Well
by: Don (Webmaster)

Charlene, I remember them well. My friends and I used to walk around pretending to puff on one of those little candy sticks with a pack of them bulging our shirt pockets. We really thought we were cool and fooling people.

The odd time we also got chocolate cigs with thin white paper around them, but I didn't care for them as much; they were more expensive, and I always seemed to end up eating the paper. Bubble gum cigs were also a favorite. And it's not just you; they don't taste the same to me either.

By the way, if anyone wants to try them, they are still being sold:

Do You Remember Sweet Tobacco?
by: Anonymous

It's not you. Nothing tastes the same; it's all been modified and the reduced sugar and salt make todays goodies tasteless. Do you remember "sweet tobacco"? I loved it.

Spanish Gold
by: Don (Webmaster)

Yes, I do remember sweet tobacco, a.k.a. Spanish Gold. Shreds of coconut dredged in a delicious chocolate powder.
