Strawberry Roll Dessert Pie

by Carmine
(Cordele, GA)

My husband's mother and grandmother used to make a baked strawberry pie. It was a rectangular rolled pastry crust, strawberries placed down the center, lots of sugar and butter on top, and then sealed into a long log/roll. They would make two to three "rolls" to fill a baking pan and bake. The fruit juices would cook out and make a wonderful syrup.

His grandmother was making this strawberry dessert pie in the early 1920's, and his mother continued it until her death in 2007. It was a family favorite, and a dessert people requested for pot luck suppers and reunions. They never wrote the recipe down.

Any suggestions on how to make the pastry? Thanks.
