A Delicious Date Meringue Pie Recipe That's So Easy To Make

This easy Mexican dessert recipe for date pie is definitely worth trying, especially if you love the exotic, sweet taste of dates and oven-browned meringue. And if you have never tasted Mexican date pie, then you don't know what you are missing. It's a dessert that tastes out of this world; it's that good.

Whenever Mom made this date pie, we could hardly wait to eat it. And it is such an easy pie recipe to make too. Why not treat your family to a delicious Mexican pie tonight?

And as an added bonus, try the Mexican coffee with its rich chocolate flavor. It's the perfect hot beverage for any special occasion, especially at Christmas time.



Mexican Recipes For Dessert

These delicious Mexican recipes are taken from one of Mom's old recipe scrapbooks, circa 1929.

Mexican Date Meringue Pie Recipe

This Mexican pie recipe tastes wonderfully richer if cream is used instead of milk. Mmmm, it's so good!

Ingredients: 1 cup white sugar, yolks of 2 eggs, 1 cup sweet cream or milk, chopped dates.

Method: Line pie plate with paste and put in a layer of chopped dates in bottom. Then add above mixture and bake till it appears done. Beat whites of eggs stiff, sweeten with sugar and spread over top. Put in oven to brown.

Mexican Coffee Recipe

Ingredients: 1-1/2 cups coffee, 1/2 cup heavy cream, 4 teaspoonfuls chocolate syrup, 3/4 teaspoonful cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoonful nutmeg.

Method: Begin with a fine dark brew of hot coffee. Stir the cream until it's thickened almost like whipped cream. Pour the chocolate syrup evenly into 4 warmed cups. Add the coffee to the chocolate syrup and blend well. Then, sprinkle on the cinnamon and nutmeg and top with cream.
