Marshmallow Mountain Dessert

by Teresa Love
(Ashford, CT)

Hi this is Teresa from Conneticut. I have been desperately looking for a recipe my mother made every year at Thanksgiving, it was so tasty and made the holiday special. She died 15 years ago, and I never found it with her things. I am older now and want to make it for my family so much, I have looked everywhere!

The dessert was made with Marshmallows that I believe were cut up and mixed with some type of sweet cream and poured into a jello mold and refrigerated. The dessert was served cold and than a warm carmel sauce was put over it made from butter and brown sugar. My mother said she got the recipe from her great aunt who was a housekeeper for an "old money" type of family/estate in the Chicago/Evanston area.

If anyone thinks they may know this Marshmallow Mountain Dessert recipe (very well likely could be called something else, this is what my mother always called it), please so kindly respond to me. I could never thank anyone enough for providing this recipe to me! I want to return to this family tradition!

Thank you so much for reading this favor.

Warmly,

Teresa

Marshmallow Pie Mountain Recipe
by: Anonymous

This is a very old recipe. If you mound it, you'll get near the same effect. You'll have to look for a topping recipe, but here is the Marshmallow Mountain recipe you were asking for.

Here is this wonderfully, yummy dessert recipe:

2 cups milk, a 1 lb. bag marshmallows. Heat on stove on low, stirring constantly, until the marshmallows are completely melted. Remove from heat and let cool until no longer warm at all.

Whip 2 cups whipping cream to stiff. Add to cooled marshmallow mixture. Fold in chopped chocolate chips, or drained crushed pineapple to taste.

Pour into 9 by 13 pan with lined graham cracker crust. I use 16 crushed graham crackers mixed with 1/2 cup butter to make the crust. Refrigerate. YUM!

You can cut this into fourths if you only want an 8-inch round pie tin of pie.
