Looking For Sugar Free Hard Tack Candy Recipe

by Michele
(Malvern)

My uncle loved the homemade hard tack candy I make for the holidays, but just recently he became a diabetic and wanted to know if I could make it sugar free, but I can't find any recipes for hard tack candy made without sugar. Does anyone know if can be made sugar free, and if so how! Thanks Michele.

Frankensugar Splenda®
by: Robert Stockburger

If I'm not mistaken, Splenda® may be used as a one to one sugar substitute for any recipe calling for sugar. Try a small batch and see what everyone thinks.

Splenda® or Equal® are both 1 to 1 substitutes for sugar. Good luck.

Replacing Kayro® Sugar Free Candy
by: Anonymous

Ok. I have been researching what you can use to replace the Kayro® and sugar... It is called sorbitol (solution). It can be purchased at health food stores. Many places use this, and it is considered a sugar alcohol. The one downfall is that if you eat too much it could act as a laxative. However, this is what is used by many candy manufacturers. Google it!
