Lest We Forget...

Create A Memorial Webpage

LCpl Ernest Archibald Gentles Bell Lest we forget, create a special Memorial Webpage to honor your friend or loved one.

When I was growing up, among the photos that hung on our walls was a photo of my Uncle Ernie, shown at left. His photo was the more noticeable because it was always adorned with a red poppy of remembrance.

L.Cpl. Ernest A. G. Bell was killed in action in France on July 8, 1944 during World War II while serving with the S.D. & G. Highlanders, and he lies buried in the Canadian Military Cemetery at Beny-Sur-Mer in Normandy. He was just 34 and recently married.

I always regretted that I never got to know Uncle Ernie, but though he was absent from us, he seemed always to be a part of our family. Each year on November 11th we would gather around the local cenotaph on Remembrance Day and stand at attention during the two-minute silence to honor him and his fallen comrades. I shall never forget him.

Lest We Forget

Why not create a Memorial Page? Have you lost a friend or family member who served in your country's military and was a casualty of war or peacekeeping, recent or past? You can create a webpage to remember and honor that special person.

Everybody is welcome. Simply enter your personal tribute in the form below. Or scroll down to comment on what others have shared. It's easy and simple to do. There's no member login or registration needed.

You get to share your personal tribute to a fallen loved one. Your published Memorial Page will tell the story of that special person. It's not difficult, and you'll have created your tribute within minutes.

You can then invite family and friends to visit your webpage and add their own comments, maybe sharing their own thoughts, and favorite memories.

You are creating your own published webpage, so you will need to write a minimum of 300 words for your submission to get accepted and indexed properly by the search engines.

Your words must be your own, though. We cannot accept copyrighted © articles from publications or content copied from other websites. Follow the Submission Guidelines.

Submissions and comments containing political views, links, addresses, or promotional content will be refused. These pages are simply meant to honor the fallen and express condolences.

Share Your Memorial

1. Enter a suitable Page Title, perhaps the person's name. This will help people to find your page when they search for it.

2. Share your Memorial text (minimum 300 words). You can share a eulogy, a compelling story, or your own thoughts and memories. It's your page to share what you want, but please do not include sensitive or private information about someone that could cause embarrassment. Read the Submission Guidelines.

3. Upload the person's photo (if you have one) and be sure to "Add Picture Caption" giving the full name and rank.

Enter Your Memorial Page Title

Ode Of Remembrance

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Lest We Forget

Support our troops.
Pray they return home safe and sound.
