Fat Balls

by Tina Ramthun
(Michigan)

My Aunt used to make us "Fat Balls"; they were like donut holes, and they were delicious.

Can you help find an old-fashioned fat balls recipe for me?

Fat Ball Receipt
by: Josie

I too have been looking for this receipt. We were at the Illinois State Fair 3 years ago, and they had a food stand that had them. They called them European Fat Balls, and they filled them with pudding or fresh fruit.

I have looked everywhere for these, and I am unable to locate anyone with this receipt.

Fat Ball Recipe
by: Patrick

The recipe for fat balls is very easy. A fat ball is actually an oversized "beignet." After cooking and cooling it is sliced open and filled with chocolate pudding, vanilla pudding, lemon pie filling, or cherry pie filling, and then placed in a paper cone.

I have also been looking for this recipe. My old Polish grandmother used to make them. They were like large donut holes, only a bit denser. There were raisins right in the dough, not just a filling added after the balls were made. They were rolled in granulated sugar when they were cool enough to handle. I just haven't been able to duplicate them.
