Fun Recipes For Making Halloween Treats
These easy Halloween recipes make delicious treats for serving when the family returns home after trick-or-treating or for taking to your church or neighborhood Halloween party. Both children and adults will love eating the candy squares, Halloween gingerbread cookies, and the chewy, chocolatey spider-web brownies. Themed desserts add fun to the holiday.
Easy Halloween RecipesThese Halloween treat recipes offer a modern twist to some favorite old-fashioned baking recipes in Grandma's collection.
Halloween Candy Squares Recipe1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk 2 tablespoons butter 2 cups dry roasted peanuts 1 (10-1/2 ounce) package white miniature marshmallows Assorted "soft" Halloween candies, chopped if need be
Line a 13x9 baking pan with waxed paper (this makes for an easy clean up later). Melt chocolate in double boiler with milk and butter, remove from heat. Combine nuts and marshmallows, then fold into the chocolate. Press mixture into the lined baking pan, spreading it out evenly as possible. Sprinkle the soft candy mixture generously and evenly over the top. Refrigerate until firm enough to cut into squares, then store at room temperature.
Not only is this an easy Halloween recipe to make, it's a nice adaptive recipe. If you prefer, you can use another type of nut or mix in some candy pieces or a favorite dry cereal. You can even add other fun ingredients aside from those listed here. Above all, make it colorful and festive looking.
Zombie Gingerbread Cookie RecipeHey, gingerbread cookies aren't just for Christmas you know; they can be a favorite treat any time of year.
3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1-1/2 teaspoons ground ginger 1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup shortening 1 egg 1 cup molasses 1 teaspoon baking soda 1-1/2 teaspoons warm water 1/4 cup raisins for decorating Red color gel icing
Cream together shortening, sugar, egg, and warm molasses. Dissolve baking soda in warm water, and then add to the egg mixture. Next, add flour, spices, and salt; mix it all up until well blended. Cover and chill overnight.
Prepare a floured surface and get out the rolling pin and cookie cutters. Cut gingerbread men (or other Halloween shapes) and place an inch or two apart on a greased cookie sheet. Use raisins and cinnamon candies for eyes, buttons, and so on. Then add red gel icing to pipe bloody gashes on the legs and arms and heads.
Spider Web Brownie Recipe4 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate 3/4 cup butter or margarine 2 cups sugar 3 eggs, beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup all-purpose flour 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts 1 (7 ounce) jar marshmallow creme topping 1 (1 ounce) square semisweet chocolate
Stir unsweetened chocolate and butter over low heat until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and beat in the sugar while still hot. Let it cool off for about ten minutes then add eggs and vanilla, blending well.
Next, gradually stir in the flour and nuts. Pour into a 13 x 9 inch baking pan and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick stuck in the middle comes out clean. As soon as you take the brownies out of the oven drop spoonfuls of marshmallow topping on top! Spread it out evenly like frosting a cake.
Time to make some webs. You can use a premade squeezable tube of decorator chocolate frosting if you have a shop nearby that sells cake decorating supplies. If not, you can make one up yourself:
Simply melt semisweet chocolate and pour into a plastic bag. Snip a tiny corner at an angle and use the bag like a decorating bag to drizzle web designs over the brownies.
Enjoy trying these easy Halloween recipes. Make fun treats for your next Halloween get-together.
