Pear Ghosts on a Stick

Make delicious Pear Ghosts on a Stick for your next Halloween party. A white chocolate pear on a stick might be one of the more unusual Halloween treats seen.

However, the taste of ripened pears dipped in melted white almond bark is a sure crowd pleaser. And, they're so easy to make! Make candy pears instead of candy apples this year and start a new Halloween tradition.

Kids love the spooky white appearance of the decorated pears calling them "Ghosts On a Stick," and they are an alternative to the traditional red candy apple recipes that are commonly seen.

It turns out that pears are just the right shape for making tasty treats for Halloween — they look like spooky little ghosts when coated with white chocolate.

Line a cookie sheet or a large cake pan with waxed paper. Place the cupcake papers on the sheet so they are not touching.

Melt almond bark (or plain white chocolate) in a small saucepan over boiling water while stirring, or follow package directions.

You can substitute plain white chocolate without the nuts if you prefer a nut-free Halloween treat for kids, and the pears will taste just as good.

Poke craft sticks or skewers firmly into the pears at their stem end. Dip each pear into the melted chocolate, draw out quickly and twirl it until the chocolate is spread evenly over the pear. You can use a spoon to help evenly coat the entire pear.

Place each chocolate-dipped pear in a cupcake paper (optional), standing up as much as possible. Place mini chocolate chips and pieces of licorice for face decoration.

You can use any leftover chocolate to spoon ghost tails into the paper cups, providing there's room. Place in fridge to cool until ready to eat. Delicious!
