Welcome

Hi Everybody,

Has the summer gone by quick, or what? True, we are still experiencing warm weather, so as long as it continues, we can pretend it's still summer. But, back-to-school time has arrived, and for many that means having to prepare kid's lunches.

Browse through the website and you'll find some great dessert ideas that can be used for school lunch treats. The recipes from Grandma's day call for all-natural ingredients so these old-time treats are healthier and better tasting than the store-bought variety.

I loved finding homemade treats in my lunch when I was a kid, and your kids will love them too -- oatmeal cookies, chocolate brownies, buttered banana bread, or perhaps a slice of apple pie. And if you're a teacher, you'll enjoy these old-time treats in your lunch too.

Several more pages filled with vintage drink recipes have been added to the website this month. These authentic sodas and fruit-flavored beverages were once served at old-time soda fountains. They are easy to make, and now you can enjoy them at any time of the year. The best part is you can adjust the sweetness level or even make them sugar free if you wish.

Here's a thought. Why not enjoy what's left of the summer weather by going on an old-fashioned family picnic or by attending a fall fair? Some of the small village fairs are a lot of fun, and you can usually find a tent where delicious homemade apple pie and ice cream is sold as a fund raiser. Treat yourself to a day off. You deserve it!

Thank you for visiting my site.

Till next month,

Don

Old Fashioned Recipe

This month we feature traditional Ice Cream Sundae Recipes. The old-time ice cream parlors served these popular sundaes to kids of all ages. Each sundae was specially named, and its recipe was closely followed by fountain operators across the land. Now you can make them at home.

These old-fashioned sundae recipes are taken from "The Soda Water Guide," published in 1915.
